I had to help my uncle with his cell phone today. OH. MY. GOD.
The problem was that the phone was supposed to have a speakerphone option but for some reason that option didn't even exist on his phone. We spent some time looking for the solution on online, every source said that option should just appear when he's on a call. He called his wireless provider twice then called the phone manufacturer. They said he should exchange the phone. So we went to a physical wireless store to see if they could do anything, we though maybe a software update was needed but the phone couldn't update until data was enabled and the computer and phone were not recognizing each other so we couldn't just download update and install that way. So we went to a physical store. They basically said, hmmm that's odd, why don't you go to the warranty exchange location on the other side of town. So we go there, the drive wasn't too bad given it was right before rush hour. As soon as we walk, we explain the problem to someone who writes my uncle's name and problem down on a list. We wait half an hour. Then we finally talk with someone and they say oh you should go to warranty exchange, that's upstairs not here. So he takes us upstairs to warranty. We spend another half hour there trying to fix the problem. The rep finally suggests a factory re-set. We do that. And it works!!!...for the speakerphone issue at least. My uncle's phone had another problem that he mention until later, the blue tooth sync with the car drops calls. The rep tells us that the factory re-set should fix that problem as well. We test it in the car. It didn't fix the bluetooth problem. We go to Best Buy, because I had to buy ink anyway and phone was a pay-as-you-go phone purchased from Best Buy. We go to customer service and exchange the phone. They put the old SIM in. The phone doesn't recognize the SIM. They tell us to go to the Cellular Department. We wait in line for another 20-25 min. The cellular rep says that SIMS that come with pay-as-you-go phones only work with the first phone they're activated with, so he activated a new SIM for my uncle. The phone makes/receives calls and has a speakerphone option. We go to the car to go home and test the bluetooth. The bluetooth still doesn't work. We sat in the car for over 10min trying to sync the bluetooth and the phone. We finally gave up.
