I'm all caught up with Bates Motel. Spoilers for Bates Motel episode 1.6.
I liked the part in Bates Motel when Emma tells Norman, "I can't imagine the shock. I mean, a guy you're really into turning out to be a monster like that". Oooo, foreshadowing. I'm wondering if Norma will pin Shelby's murder on Dylan. The 911 operator asked "who's shooting at you?" and she just hung up. If she does pin it on Dylan that will take care of everything for her: 1) she won't ahve to explain why Shelby, a cop, was holding her and her family at gun point and 2) she won't have to worry about Norman moving in with Dylan. She could just say her son, Dylan, was shooting at them and Shelby tried to stop him and got caught killed in the process. Would Norma do that to her son? Well to her son, who's not Norman? I think she would be that messed up of a mother. She's clearly got an obsession with Norman... obsessing on the two brothers moving into together, rather than running away from an enraged Shelby who might be coming back at any moment.
Finally, we learned what happened to Norman's father. I figured Norman had killed his own father in one of his black outs and that Norma had helped hide it. But why go through the trouble?? She makes so many stupid mistakes, like covering up Sam, Norman's father's death, when it was completely an accident and he was hitting her so it would be defense. And then covering up the Keith murder when he broke into their house, attached her, handcuffed her to a table, and raped her. Even though he was knocked unconscious when she killed him it could still be self-defense. Dylan's right, Norman should stick with him...but alas, we all know which path Norman will choose...poor Janet Leigh.
